For this edition, I’m so thrilled (!!) to bring back a VERY special and favored podcast guest
me! 😉 This week, I’m opening up about my personal perimenopause & menopause journey—sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between. It’s a conversation close to my heart, and I hope it resonates with many of you navigating similar experiences.

I also weave in learnings from the 150+ experts I’ve interviewed over the course of the podcast. Feel free to peruse the Perimenopause and Menopause Podcast Hub to find the episodes answering your burning questions.

“Know your menstrual cycle, how it’s changing, how you’re feeling, what triggers a symptom... that’s way better than just showing up at your doctor’s office incredibly frustrated.”

The transition into menopause presents various biological and psychosocial challenges, making middle-aged women more susceptible to concerns about body image. This systematic review analyzed 18 observational studies to explore the associations between menopause and body image perception in healthy women. The review found that menopausal symptoms, particularly their frequency and intensity, were consistently linked to more negative body image perceptions. However, the relationship between body image and menopausal stages or reproductive hormone levels was less clear, with minimal evidence and inconsistent findings. Most studies had limitations, such as cross-sectional designs and lack of adjustment for confounders, indicating the need for further research to fully understand these associations. Check out the recent study from PubMed.
